New Premier League season

What Does the New Premier League Season Bring?

The new Premier League season will launch on 16 August this year. This league has found its place among the strongest ones for many years in the past. As no standards dropped, many of us are looking forward to the new season, and can’t wait to see what it’ll bring us.

Premier League Season Dates

As I said above, it will all start on 16 August. 89 days after the final Premier League season 2023/24 match, the first 2024/25 game will take place. The last fixture in the new season will be on 25 May 2025.

New Premier League Season

Who Left, and Who Joined?

The Premier League rules are clear when it comes to the last three ranked teams in this league. In other words, clubs with such a ranking have to go to the lower league, i.e. the English Championship.

At the end of the last season, we saw Luton Town, Sheffield, and Burnley at the very bottom. These are, of course, the teams that left. It’s kind of interesting that all three clubs were promoted to this league after the end of the 2022/23 season.

The newcomers to this league now are Leicester City, Southampton, and Ipswich Town. Leicester won the title, and Ipswich took second place at the end of the season. Southampton won the match over Leicester in the playoffs and became the third team to join the new Premier League season.

Are There Any Changes in the Premier League New Season Format?

The format of this league remains the same. More specifically, it will include 33 weekend rounds, four midweek rounds, and one holiday matchweek. The total number of teams will not change (20).

The club with the highest number of points will be considered the trophy winner. The four highest-ranked teams will qualify for the Champions League (league phase).

The one that takes the fifth spot will join the Europa League. Of course, any of the Premier League teams may win the FA Cup and go to the Europa League regardless of their ranking in this league, just like Man Utd did the previous season.

As before, the three worst-ranked teams will have to undergo relegation at the end of the season. That is, they will join the lower-tier league, the EFL Championship.

English Premier League New Season Favourites

You may already know it, but Man City is once again one of the main favourites from the top five leagues to lift the trophy in the new Premier League season. The club that almost took the title away from them last season, Arsenal, is the second team most likely to win the title, according to bookies.

Just as the previous season rankings showed, the third-spot holder, Liverpool, is now the third one in the race for the trophy. Behind them, there’s Chelsea.

The last two teams which share the fifth place on the list of favourites to win the title are Man Utd and Newcastle. Bookmakers offer the same odds for both of these to end up as Premier League 2024/25 winners.
