Leicester City's Jamie Vardy celebrates scoring his side's first goal of the game.

Jamie Vardy Transfer News: Where Could The Fox’s Talisman Continue His Career?

Jamie Vardy, the Leicester City striker and one of English football’s most remarkable success stories, is set to leave the King Power Stadium at the end of the 2024-2025 season after 13 years with the club. At 38 years old, even though he was one of the oldest players in the Premier League, Vardy remains a prolific goal-scorer and has expressed his desire to continue playing.

As he prepares to bid farewell to the club where he achieved legendary status, speculation is mounting about where the Foxes’ talisman might continue his career. More and more clubs are joining in, trying to potentially add one of the most lethal strikers the Premier League has ever seen. He might be well past his best days, but he still has a lot in him. Something that a lot of clubs could use.

Potential Move to the Scottish Premiership, Both Celtic and Rangers Showing Interest

Both Celtic and Rangers have emerged as potential destinations for Jamie Vardy as he prepares to leave Leicester City. Brendan Rodgers is the main culprit for Celtic’s interest, who managed Vardy at Leicester. Vardy thrived under his management, scoring 70 goals in 157 appearances. Celtic’s need for a striker, especially after Kyogo Furuhashi’s departure to Stade Rennes, has fueled speculation. Pundit Craig Moore suggests Vardy as a viable option for the Bhoys.

Rangers’ link comes from Paul Gascoigne’s claim that Vardy’s pace would make him a prolific scorer in Scotland. Alongside a past attempt by Ally McCoist to sign him in 2011. Transfer insider Ekrem Konur has reported Rangers’ interest. But the club’s strategy of prioritising younger players for development and resale value could make a move for the 38-year-old unlikely.

While a move to the Scottish Premiership remains a possibility, it appears less likely than other options. Most believe that Jamie is still good enough for the Premier League and should stay put.

MLS Beckons with NY Red Bulls the Prime Target

Major League Soccer in the United States could be a potentially logical destination for Vardy. Several clubs have reportedly already show interest in him. San Diego FC and Charlotte FC have been named as possible suitors, with Charlotte benefiting from a connection through Christian Fuchs, Vardy’s former Leicester teammate. San Diego FC, an expansion team, could see Vardy as a veteran presence to complement their attacking lineup.

While the New York Red Bulls were not specifically mentioned in recent reports, the MLS’s open market means they could pursue him. Vardy’s part-ownership of Rochester New York FC underscores his ties to American soccer. Though this is unrelated to his playing career. The MLS’s growing profile and less physically demanding style could appeal to Vard. Particularly as he nears the end of his career.

Wrexham’s Ambitious Pursuit Towards the Prem

Wrexham, the Hollywood-owned club that has captured global attention, has been linked with Vardy. Particularly after their promotion to the Championship. The club’s owners, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, love ambitious signings. Pundits like Harry Redknapp have suggested Vardy could help Wrexham push for the Premier League.

However, reports indicate that Vardy has snubbed a move to Wrexham, preferring to stay in the Premier League. Additionally, a past incident during the 2011-2012 season, when Vardy’s Fleetwood Town pipped Wrexham to the National League title, has left some Wrexham fans wary of his potential signing. Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson has downplayed transfer talks. He stated that focusing on squad stability is more important to him. The club’s interest in other strikers suggests they may look elsewhere.

Staying in the Premier League

Vardy’s preferred option appears to be remaining in the Premier League, where he has spent the majority of his career. Reports suggest he believes he can still contribute at the top level. His 2024-2025 season performance (seven goals and three assists in 31 league games) supports this view.

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster has claimed that “most of the Premier League” could be interested in Vardy as a free agent, though specific clubs have not been named.

Newcastle United remains a speculative mention, with Foster suggesting they “would love him,” but this remains unconfirmed. Vardy’s experience, work rate, and goal-scoring instinct make him an attractive option for mid-table or relegation-battling teams. However, his age may deter some clubs.
