Chelsea secures a Champions League spot after easily defeating Wolves at Stamford Bridge. The top four battle in the Premier League was a hard one and it all came down to the final matchday. The Blues came out as 2-0 expected victors with Wolves not being able to put up much of a fight.
The man of the match was definitely the former Derby County youngster, Mason Mount. After some unconvincing performances, Frank Lampard decided to give him a chance in the starting 11. The gamble paid off as Mount bagged a wonderful free-kick goal and only minutes later assisted Giroud for the second. Both goals came in extra time of the first half.
Even though the Wolves pressed on in the second, it seems that a crucial mistake was leaving Adama Traore and Joao Moutinho on the bench. Willy Caballero only had one situation where he easily protected the goal.
Chelsea finishes fourth in the English Premier League while the loss leaves Wolves seventh. That way, Wolverhampton misses out on the direct spot for Europa League but they still have hopes of making it in if the either win this year’s Europa League or if Arsenal defeats Chelsea in the FA Cup final.
