We are witnessing one of the closest title races in Premier League history. At the very end, with only two matchweeks remaining (three for some) three teams are separated by five points and it seems that it is anyone’s guess who the winner could be.
Arsenal and Manchester City are actually much closer to the goal, with the Gunners being a point ahead but with a game down. The Reds from Liverpool are five points behind and can’t afford to drop any points in the remaining games if they are to hope to win their newest Premier League title.
The Premier League title race is on, so let’s see who has the best chance of ending on top.
Arsenal
The Gunners find themselves in a similar situation as last year. However, after bottling everything in the familiar Arsenal fashion last year, they now seem much more secure.
However, they are still a game down as opposed to the Cityzens. Even though they are a point ahead of City, they are in a lacklustre situation as they are feeling the pressure put on by Pep and his team.
With two games remaining, Arsenal needs to play Manchester United and Everton. The derby match against the Red Devils should be the most crucial one for them and might just even determine the English Premier League title race altogether.
Manchester City
Manchester City are on a very familiar title run in the Premier League. After dropping points and drawing with the other two competitors, Arsenal (0:0) and Liverpool (1:1), Per Guardiola has straightened his men up and got them to perform on a whole other level. They have a chance to make history by winning their fourth EPL title in a row. Making it their sixth win in the last seven years.
Opposed to Arsenal, Man City has the situation firmly in their hands. With three games to go, all they have to do is win every single one of them and the title is secured.
However, they have to play against Fulham and Tottenham away and West Ham at home in the last gameweek of the season. Their last Premier League title race fixtures look easy on paper. But a single slip-up may cause them to stagger at the very last step.
Liverpool
Liverpool could have made this the closest Premier League title race in history. But they faltered right at the end as they won only two games in their last five outings. They lost two and drew once, keeping them almost completely out of the title contention.
The Premier League title race 2023/24 was much closer only a few matchweeks ago. But the Reds broke down for some reason and lost points against opponents they simply shouldn’t have.
Jurgen Klopp and his team still have a chance, but they are not the masters of their own fate. What they need to hope for is for both Arsenal and City to somehow lose their remaining games. At the same time, they need to win versus Aston Villa and Wolverhampton. Most would say that their title hopes are already over. But it ain’t over until the fat lady sings.
